Nutella Turnovers

Nutella Turnovers. These are beautiful light, flakey pastries that envelope globs of rich, creamy Nutella. A light dusting of powder sugar completes this treat!

Just two ingredients, or three if you count the milk, are needed to make these delicious pastries.

Ingredients

  • Nutella.
  • Puff Pastry: ready made, store bought puff pastry.
  • Milk.

Instructions

Defrost the puff pastry sheet for 45 minutes. Roll it flat to get rid of the folds and to even out the thickness. I did it on a Silpat mat to make it easier. Using a pizza cutter, divide the pastry into 6.

Spread 2 tbsps of Nutella in a triangular shape, onto one half of each pastry square.

Using clean fingertips or a brush, wet the edges of each square with milk. Fold over the pastry, seal it gently with your finger and crimp the edges with a fork.

Brush the tops of each turnover with the leftover milk. Lift the Silpat mat onto a baking sheet and put in a preheated 350 degrees F. oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Uses for Nutella Turnovers

Nutella Turnovers can be used as a snack, packed in a lunch box, served for breakfast or brunch. They can be gently warmed in the oven and then dusted with powder sugar.

Storage

Store them in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Freeze them for up to 3 months. Separate each turnover with wax or parchment paper. Defrost in the freezer over night. Redust them with powder sugar.

A Tip From Me

Make more Nutella Turnovers than you think you will need! They will be very popular! Also consider cutting the pastry sheet into smaller pieces and making mini Nutella Turnovers.

Got Questions?

  • Can I mix something into the Nutella? Yes, some people like to add cream cheese and / or crushed hazelnuts.
  • What if I don’t like or have enough Nutella? Perhaps use peanut or almond butter, you could add cocoa powder to them.
  • Why did you use store bought puff pastry? I find it is always reliable and I am sure of getting a consistent end result each time. Feel free to make your own puff pastry or phyllo pastry.
